THE ROLE We are recruiting for a high-energy Project Manager to join our team overseeing the construction of subsidy-free solar assets here in the UK for 12 months. As Project Manager, the role holder will work closely with the broader team and the subsidy-free client team responsible for managing the development and construction of the site from the early stages of development to handover and project closing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project management, as per the PMI procedures, across all project phases: project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing down. Preparation of detailed project management plans that will include as a minimum the following knowledge areas: communications, cost, time, quality, risk, procurement and stakeholders management. Ensure PV plants are being executed according to the plan, baselines and contractual/legal requirements with the minimum possible variances. More specifically: Ensure PV installation works are completed by subcontractors according to the project requirements and specifications all components meet the specified quality and adhere to the project baselines communications are being managed effectively and efficiently Coordination of project team, contractors, vendors and all related on-site and off-site activities. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical. Excellent communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging. Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelt out in your job description. Intellectual Curiosity – Technical Management is a broad and nuanced field and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas into the team. IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level Excel). Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters! EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience in Solar PV plant construction (minimum 5 years), including experience in subsidy-free projects Engineering Degree or similar educational background is a must Project management-related qualifications (PMP certification or Prince2) would be an advantage Excellent project management skills with a highly organised, systematic approach – but the ability to be flexible and adaptable as required. Specific knowledge of Power Systems especially in Grid code would be an advantage Oversight of the construction process with responsibility for Health and Safety compliance Able to effectively apply NextEnergy's methodology and enforce project standards. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately Able to identify activities/procedures to minimize our project’s risk Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion Must be a proficient user of Microsoft Office package including MS Projects. Knowledge of other software such as AutoCAD, PVCase or PVSyst would be an advantage.
