Detailed job description and main responsibilities Post holder must be comfortable with working at a fast pace on several activities at once and comfortable with shaping and adapting their role as the plan develops and changes.
Main duties are likely to include:
Ø Management of utility invoices, data and produce energy reports periodically
Ø Manage the Boiler House and CHP Service Contract
Ø Provide data for ERIC, PAM, DECs, EU ETS, CRC, CHPQA, CCL and any other legislative requirements.
Ø Taking the lead in developing and implementing a sustainable management plan for the Trust and assisting in the preparation, co-ordination, research, implementation and monitoring of delivery of the plan.
Ø Monitoring and regularly reporting on SGH's progress with regard to Sustainability and Climate Change and ensure work is being carried out to ensure that all targets are met.
Ø Run and download monthly reports on existing SCADA energy management tools.
Ø Introduce energy protocols -Heating / Cooling - Fans / heaters - set up procedure with Procurement
Ø Complete monthly plant room checks on energy efficiency, audit and report findings.
Ø Undertaking research in all aspects of the SMP including legislative and regulatory compliance, asset management, energy management, waste management, travel, procurement, office environment, funding opportunities and best practice both within and beyond the organisation. Follow up actions on a range of topics, being a first point of contact for enquiries, providing a constructive challenge function for the Trust.
Ø Working on aspects of the strategy, particularly development of metrics, for the next phase of St Georges Hospital sustainability management plan.
Ø Producing a range of material for internal and external use, plus supporting the development of other communications and training material.
Ø Produce Climate change adaptation policy. Produce energy management policy.
Ø Renew export and import contract periodically with Crown Commercial Service.
Ø Arranging and delivering internal workshops and events with service areas on sustainability for SGH.
Ø Nurturing partnerships with external stakeholders and partners to ensure delivery of the agenda.
Ø Monitoring carbon footprints and related budgets and expenditures for SGH.
Ø Implement a Trust wide environmental management strategy consistent with ISO14000.
Ø Set up SGH wide sustained carbon reduction, energy awareness and climate change campaign. Organise and publicise events relating to the campaign.
Ø Review smart metering strategy
Ø Set up a series of KPI's/metrics to inform the Intelligent Board Reports. Set up KPIs/metrics, reporting and monitoring which informs corporate and strategic planning along with further metrics which encourage all directorates clinical and non clinical to use carbon currency in performance measures to reduce carbon emissions and increase service effectiveness.
Ø Facilitate a close working relationship with the NHS Sustainable Development Unit and other external agencies such as the Carbon Trust etc, to update and inform the SDC and the SDMP of recommendations/advice, develop and implement action plans accordingly.
Person specificationQualifications and Training Essential criteria - Appropriate HNC/D or Degree in Engineering / Building Services / Energy related field
Desirable criteria - Masters Qualification Member of recognised engineering/industry body, i.e. IHEEM/CIBSE / Engineering Council IOSH or NEBOSH qualified Project Management Qualification such as Prince2
Experience Essential criteria - Managing the provision of energy or related field across a diverse estate Commercial negotiation experience
- Awareness of Building Management Systems experience Experience of undertaking energy related project Technical report writing Strong MS Office and Excel Skills
Desirable criteria - CMMS/CAFM Assest Management Awareness Healthcare environment working experience Budget Management
Skills Essential criteria - Solid team management skills Good understanding of financial management

- Strong technical knowledge in Engineering discipline
Desirable criteria - NEBOSH / IOSH Certificate Permit to Work experience

Other Essential criteria - Advanced Analytics skills, Data automation and Microsoft Office skills
