What you'll be doing As a member of the Quality chapter and a quality specialist in Data Engineering, you will lead a team of QAs, where your primary focus will be as the voice and visionary of Quality and Data Quality Engineering practices. You will set the Data Quality vision and enable the teams to deliver high quality outcomes at sustainable speed. You will be focused on the evolution and maintenance of our technical quality engineering practices/principles and deliverables i.e., data quality, automation, performance, observability, pair programming etc. You will encourage and facilitate the adoption of quality first ways of working across the data domain crews. You will also provide coaching and mentoring to the quality advocates across the domain, empowering them to lead discussions in software choices and setting up quality infrastructure and beyond. You will support our delivery teams to ensure that quality is at the forefront of our delivery practices, and work towards a whole team ownership for quality. Key activities would include: Provide line management overseeing QAs well-being, performance, and career development. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and establish individual development plans to support the career advancement of QAs. Champion diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives, promoting a culture of belonging and respect for all team members. Coach and mentor a quality first mindset across the Data Domain to continue to grow a culture of quality across the organisation. Provide technical leadership and guidance in quality to members across the engineering communities within the Data Domain. Ensure close collaboration with the Quality Chapter between all the quality advocates in the Data Domain to encourage relevant understanding of Dunelm’s quality principles and values. Utilise technologies and techniques that align to our quality and development engineering practices, and support the needs of the products and outcomes looking to be delivered. Pro-actively analyse current processes and practices with the ability to drive quality improvements. Help innovate and deliver continuous improvements across the domains, crews and Chapters. Strive for and champion Data Quality Engineering excellence throughout the chapter and wider tech teams. What we'll look for in you Essential Skills Significant experience in leading and line management of autonomous and highly skilled QAs. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate QAs to achieve their full potential. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion, with a track record of fostering inclusive and psychologically safe working environments. Strong proven strategic thinking being able to shape and implement a vision that aligns with the business needs. Specialist Skills Experience with using technologies and techniques to deliver high quality Data engineering outcomes. Experience working within an Agile environment using scrum, Kanban or another framework. Strong understanding of CI/CD and toolsets to integrate, monitor and run pipelines within a Data Engineering landscape. Solid understanding of data engineering and data quality engineering principles. Experience in cloud platforms and serverless technology (e.g. AWS, Azure). Highly skilled in Data Engineering concepts & quality strategies, with good knowledge of extraction, transformation and loading of data through its lifecycle. Experience in using Data Warehouses and Transformation tools such as Snowflake and DBT. Desirable Specialist Skills Proven experience in implementing and measuring the data quality using the data quality pillars. Experience in Monitoring and Alerting tools such as DataDog. Keen interest in Machine Learning and A.I, with either theoretical or working knowledge of algorithms and how they can be applied to improve customer insights. Experience in business insights and reporting using tools such as PowerBI.
