Job Description
We require Principal Engineer to join our established team based in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, and London.
You will be involved in all aspects of building environmental and engineering modelling, including early stage planning submissions, through to full practical completion.
You will be required to prepare specifications, undertake advanced computer modelling, report outcomes and recommendations and assist in the development of junior team members.
Your key responsibilities, with support from the team, are expected to include the following:
- Working as part of a close-knit team undertaking IES modelling to support internal and external clients to meet legislative and environmental/net zero commitments and targets.
- Support team leads by undertaking QA of colleagues’ work to ensure high quality standard of work is maintained.
- Undertake building energy modelling in IES and other analyses with the appropriate tools.
- Input to new-build projects and masterplans on how to minimise energy demands and seek to achieve net zero performance.
- Provide consultancy support to organisations (public and private sector) to develop carbon reduction strategies.
- Contribute to the development of energy strategies to support building design teams and energy statements to support planning applications.
- Contributing to a wide range of projects as workload dictates.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- An ability to communicate effectively, be client-facing and able to write concise and high-quality, clearly written reports.
- Have a good understanding of and interest in sustainable development issues as they relate to the built environment.
- A science, engineering or building-related degree; a building sustainability/energy related MSc is desirable.
- IES modelling experience essential, Apache HVAC and/or EPC accreditation desirable.
- If not currently chartered, ideally should be working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute, IEMA).
Our team works on many government projects that require security clearance; as such, you must have the ability to hold Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance as a minimum. To qualify for UK clearance, you must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years, without periods of more than 28 days outside the country.
