We are recruiting on behalf of a Global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high-speed metal forming and finishing machinery, with an $8.5 bn turnover, a reputation for excellence and operations in 41 countries. They have proudly achieved The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for their international trade, innovation and sustainable development.
They are now looking for a Buyer to join them on a permanent, full time basis at the HQ in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
Salary, hours and benefits:

Up to £35,996 per annum

Flexible start and finish times – core hours Monday to Thursday 9:30 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:30 & Friday 9:30 to 13:00.
About the role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing of a specified category of Direct materials and / or Indirect subcontracted services. The varied role will involve both strategic and tactical elements of Purchasing. This will principally consist of Supplier Sourcing and Selection, Price and Leadtime Negotiation, Supplier Relationship Management including hosting regular meetings and attending supplier visits, in addition to RFQ and PO Placement activities.
Furthermore, the role will include implementing and developing new purchasing initiatives and practices, conducting appropriate risk management analyses and monitoring of high level of supplier performance, whilst developing good working relationships with our internal colleagues and stakeholders.
Key outcomes of the role include:

Identification and realisation of cost savings across the business either through commercial negotiation or implementation of process efficiencies.

Review and maintain existing KPI’s and promote development for future reporting – primarily around Quality Performance and OnTime Delivery.

Completion of reporting, reviewing documentation and purchase order information.

Manage Approved Suppliers, liaise and support the Sales team during enquiry phase of projects with the review of Suppliers quotes.

To uphold and promote ethical business practises with a view to maintaining the highest standard of Integrity in all business relationships.
About you:
-
Proven track record in a commercial engineering environment.

Experience of Direct Materials procurement for a manufacturing business.

Ideally qualified or working towards CIPS Level 4
-
Good knowledge of MRP Systems

Ability to negotiate with suppliers to get best value
-
Experience of technical sourcing to engineering drawings and international sourcing

Excellent understanding of structured procurement process and systems
-
Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasive skill
