The Project
As a highly experienced HSE Officer, you will play a crucial role on a sustainable energy plant with values in excess of £480m, located in Greater Manchester. You will oversee the implementation of safety and environmental protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. Additionally, your role will be essential in maintaining a safe, sustainable environment while supporting the plants operational efficiency and minimising environmental impact.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;
Relevant Health and Safety Diploma / Degree
Manual Handling (desirable not essential)
Working at Height (desirable not essential)
Abrasive Wheels (desirable not essential)
Occupational First AiderIt is also essential that you hold the experience below;
An extensive background in the industry with at least 5 years of experience of operating in a HSE Officer or similar on large scale projects
Strong history of working with a specialist electrical contractor delivering various energy development projects with values in excess of £480mAdditional skills;

Ability to lead and motivate a team
Skillful in maintaining high quality standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge of legal health and safety regulations

Job Title: HSE Officer
Job Type: Freelance
Project: £480m sustainable energy plant
Location: Greater Manchester
Duration: 18 months minimum
Reporting to: Site ManagerDuties
Lead site safety briefings
Plan and conduct internal client or 3rd party HSE audits
Working closely and reporting directly to the Site Manager
Carry out and enforce safety initiatives on sites as necessary
Liaise regularly with the client, regarding safety-related issues
Perform safety site inspections and audits as per the project audit plan
Promote safe work practices and lead safety initiative programs on site
Create and enforce polices to promote a strong health and safety culture
Examine equipment and machinery to identify potential unsafe conditions
Conduct regular risk assessments and identify hazards to prevent accidents or incidents
Perform regular site inspections, safety audits, and ensuring safety protocols are followed
Generate CARs/NCRs when necessary and monitor the implementation of corrective actions
Develop and implement workplace health and safety plans in compliance with legal requirements
Suggest solutions for identified issues, opportunities for improvement, or new preventive measures
Oversee adherence to policies and regulations by inspecting employees and operational processes
Prepare and manage emergency response plans and ensuring staff are trained to handle emergencies
Design and implement safety programs, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
Reviewing processes, procedures, and facilities to identify risks and ensure compliance with legal standards
Overseeing the safe and efficient execution of projects, encompassing all aspects of site and construction management
Compile accurate safety performance data from the project and prepare weekly reports, including a comparison with key performance indicators (KPIs)
Investigate safety and environmental accidents/incidents, providing detailed reports and corrective action plans
Examine accidents or incidents to identify their root causes and oversee the processing of workers' compensation claims
Deliver ongoing advice and assistance to project site management and supervisors on safety concerns related to routine activities
Ensure environmental protection by promoting waste management, pollution control, and sustainable work practices
