Role Title: Principal Strategy Manager, Vodafone Business
Location: London Paddington/Newbury
Role Purpose
To lead the development and execution of strategic projects that will define and drive the future success of Vodafone Business. In addition, working alongside the "Principal Strategy Manager, Corporate Development", the role will drive our Corporate development agenda, leading specific due diligence activity and post-merger planning. The role will focus primarily on Product Portfolio-centric or market-centric strategies. It will involve working closely with VB Directors & Exco members to ensure full buy-in to the output of strategic projects and a clear path to strategy execution.
The role will require a strong strategic mindset, exceptional analytical skills, good understanding of communications and IT technology and an excellent track record of successfully defining/ implementing strategic plans.
This is a high-profile role that will require regular discussions at C-level/ Director level within Vodafone Business and across Vodafone Group, where clarity of thought & communication, based on deep insight and rigorous methodology is crucial.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborating with leadership to develop, refine and communicate the strategic vision of Vodafone Business and to translate this into actionable plans and initiatives.
- Lead strategic projects, often involving the creation of cross-functional teams that will define new opportunities for growth within Vodafone Business.
- Lead specific corporate development activity, driving full assessment of target companies (technical, financial, skills etc) in order to establish suitability of target and ultimately establish a target price.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the due diligence process for specific M&A activity.
- Market, competitor, technology, trend analysis to identify opportunities and threats that will underpin our strategy development.
- Close collaboration with our markets and key stakeholders to validate strategies & corporate development activities to achieve alignment.
- Create strategic input for our annual planning cycle, ensuring they take into consideration both Global and local market trends.
- Engaging with Analysts and external stakeholders to improve credibility for Vodafone's products and services in the market.
- Detailed financial modelling to outline the potential future impacts of our strategic recommendations (investments, cost savings, revenue impact, margin impact etc.).
- Aligning with VBG P&S portfolio leads to ensure full alignment and adoption of strategies developed by the team.
- Working at ExCo level to ensure approval and adoption of our strategic initiatives across Vodafone business.

It would be nice if you have
- Experience at formulating strategy as part of a product management/ commercial/ marketing position and/or through a management consulting/ strategy role.
- Understanding of our products and services; high level of commercial expertise is required including understanding of product P&L, unit economics, profitability and product lifecycle management.
- Strong focus on execution, with a result driven attitude and detail-oriented approach, while being comfortable to navigate through ambiguity to define direction and recommendations in an effective and timely manner.
- Strong capability in articulating complex ideas with authority and making the case for change; Experience at presenting at Board level with customers and internally.
- Strong presentation and influencing skills and capacity to drive change in a highly complex organisational environment due to dispersed geographies, OpCo based organisational design and multiple stakeholders with different priorities.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the telecommunications industry with strong focus on Mobility.
- Team leadership experience and proven ability to operate within a matrix organisation.
- Honours degree as a minimum.
- MBA preferable.
