Locogen are looking for a Graduate Environmental Consultant with a keen interest in peat, hydrology, flood risk, and the environmental aspects of onshore renewable energy development.
Locogen has a growing inhouse Environmental team made up of hydrologists, environmental engineers, ecologists, and ornithologists, primarily working on utility scale onshore wind and solar projects.

About our Graduate Environmental Consultant Role:
This is a great opportunity for someone with knowledge of the environmental and water environment in the UK to join our growing Environment and Ecology team. You will be working closely with our senior team delivering the environmental elements of renewable projects to our clients.
Who would be a good fit?:
- A graduate with a background in geography, geology, water, environmental management, flood risk or hydrogeology (or similar degree).
- Someone with a good foundation understanding of the water environment in the UK; including a working knowledge of peatland habitats or the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process in the UK.
- Someone who is keen to help deliver projects with a pro-active solution-based approach and assist in designing largescale renewables developments that are sympathetic to environmental interests.
- Someone who is keen to focus on the written elements of the water environment, as well as a willingness to learn field-based survey methods of hydrology and peat assessment processes.
- Someone with experience in undertaking the field-elements of peatland assessment.
- Someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to organise, review and manage large environmental datasets to a high standard.
- Someone who loves learning, because we have a number of incredibly knowledgeable people who love to teach and develop people's skills.

Here are some beneficial but not essential skills:
- Previous experience in undertaking, or an understanding of, Environmental Impact Assessment, Flood Risk, or Drainage Assessments.
- Experience in sampling and surveying for peat, water quality, and drainage.
- Knowledge of the Flood Estimation Handbook and catchment descriptors for determining river flows.
- Some prior experience of manging large datasets efficiently and effectively.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding of renewable energy technologies.
- Previous experience of liaising with multiple stakeholders.
- GIS skills - particularly in QGIS & CAD.
What does the day to day look like?:
Our work is varied but here are some of the things you might find yourself doing:
- Management and analysis of large environmental datasets.
- Assisting with Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Liaising with clients and a variety of stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Helping to manage a large team of sub-contractor surveyors across the breadth of the UK.
- Health & Safety management - drafting of Risk Assessments & Methods Statements (RAMS) and help in implementing safe working procedures on our sites.
- Assist with the drafting of technical reports.
- Assisting in undertaking fieldwork and site visits for onshore wind and solar sites.
- Helping to provide environmental technical support to other business units within the company.
