What will this role achieve? pladis is embarking on a sustainability journey, with an exciting, holistic, global sustainability strategy and a new global team. We have exciting ambitions for net zero, SBTi, deforestation-free sourcing, and raising the bar on sustainability for pladis, with an additional team member now needed to help drive and deliver this step-change. Do you want to be at the forefront of shaping a sustainable future? Reporting to the Global Director of Sustainability and part of the wider Corporate Affairs and Communications Team, this role leads the business globally on carbon. This role will lead and drive the implementation of strategic carbon roadmaps, supporting the regions' implementation. Ideally, you will develop playbooks to design the thinking for the business in respect of carbon reduction, support the delivery with tools, as well as hands-on design and delivery. This is a pivotal role for a passionate and experienced carbon professional to lead our carbon delivery efforts. You will be responsible for working with the regions to build out the roadmaps, ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and ambition across pladis globally. This will involve assessing their current operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions that utilize the latest clean technologies. You'll also play a key role in developing strategies and plans to guide regions on their sustainability journey. What will be your key deliverables? Partner with the Global Sustainability Director to develop the Carbon Implementation Strategy for pladis. Develop and implement a robust, tailored carbon reduction delivery programme, taking into account regional and country variations and aligning with relevant frameworks and reporting requirements. Lead the regional implementation of the delivery programme, including upskilling colleagues to enhance understanding and application. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across various departments (e.g., supply chain, finance, legal) to align capex and budget forecasting to facilitate the financial ‘buy-in’ of the recommendations and timelines. Identify and implement strategies for continuous improvement in established work programmes as well as define and design where they do not exist or are inadequate. Stay abreast of evolving sustainability regulations and reporting standards, and proactively adapt our practices accordingly. What do you need for this role? Proven experience: You have a strong track record in sustainability consulting or a related field, with experience in delivering projects. Technical knowledge: You have a good understanding of carbon reduction and management, energy systems, and sustainability principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: You're able to build strong relationships with peers and colleagues at all levels, across all geographies. Leadership and management skills: You're able to motivate and inspire a team to achieve their best, sharing learning to upskill colleagues to build engagement. Commercial acumen: You understand the commercial side of sustainability and can help ‘business case’ the capex requirements. Strong analytical skills, including capex modelling and carbon forecasting/modelling and keen attention to detail. Passion for sustainability: You're committed to making a positive impact on the environment and society, taking ownership and accountability of work programmes, and able to work both independently as well as part of both a virtual and matrix team.
