Our client is seeking a key hire, a Financial Modeller , to be accountable for the financial modelling of solar PV and battery solutions to our industrial and commercial customers. This role is essential in ensuring the business price long term power purchase agreement correctly, achieve internal hurdle rates and give customers great value renewable energy. Reporting into the Operations Director, the Financial Modeller will be accountable for building, maintaining and improving financial models to enable investment cases and customer proposals to be created for potential solar PV and battery projects. Working closely with Sales, Finance and Technical teams to create an accurate repeatable model to drive customer proposals while also ensuring the right internal hurdles rates are achieved. As a dynamic start-up this role would suit someone enthusiastic to come in and shape this role, ways of working and be a vital part in the business as we scale and deliver renewable energy for their customers. The Role Our client offers industrial & commercial customers fully funded solar PV & battery solutions, entering into power purchase agreements with customers to provide them greener and cheaper electricity. The successful applicate will lead the build, maintenance and operationalisation of the financial modelling for these projects. Model outputs will be the internal investment analysis (IRR, NPV, payback), revenue forecasts, optimising generation and storage, customer PPA pricing and customer savings. The ideal candidate will have experience of modelling solar PV and battery projects and industrial and commercial electricity pricing. Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Location: London based (Battersea Power Station) Key Responsibilities Build and manage the financial modelling of all projects both initial design (solar and battery) and final proposal stages Accountable for understanding industrial and commercial electricity data, generation outputs and modelling investment cases and PPA (power purchase agreement) pricing for customers Build models to allow for quick iteration to optimise customer success and achieve internal hurdle rates returns Ongoing operation & maintenance of models, driving improvements in accuracy, sensitivity and efficiency Enable different scenarios to be quickly modelled to ensure optimal solution design (e.g. battery and solar sizing) Keep up to date on latest industrial and commercial electricity pricing practices and relevant incentives for renewable energy Support reporting requirements to drive sales strategy, performance reviews and board meetings Support forecasting and budgeting processes using historical data to drive improving accuracy Willing to learn new techniques, new tools and drive solve problems as we scale and grow Key Requirements Candidates should ideally possess the following skills and qualifications: Educational Background : Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent Experience : 3+ years experience in financial modelling renewable solutions, strong experience of industrial and commercial energy data and pricing Technical Proficiency : Very strong numerical and analytical skills, experienced in handling large data sets, good understanding of energy markets in the UK Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting financial information to customers and peers Technology Skills : Strong IT skills incl. ability to model in Python, SQL and in the MS Windows environment (particularly Excel), PowerBI, etc. Desirable would be experience in specific solar and battery modelling tools (e.g. Homer or alternative) Problem solver, logical thinker and able to focus on the detail across multiple projects Flexible and adaptable, highly organised and able to work autonomously Experience of modelling solar PV and battery project delivery would be a distinct advantage.
