How you'll make a difference As a Road Safety Assistant, you will be delivering road safety and sustainable travel education into specific schools to help children and the community stay safe on the roads. What you will be doing You will be delivering road safety training to children; this can involve presenting in school assemblies and classrooms. When required, you will attend public road safety events to promote road safety and sustainable travel messages. Supporting the Road Safety team, you will book schools for interventions, ensuring that they have sufficient resources for campaigns and projects. Acting as a bridge between schools and the Road Safety Officer, you will attempt to resolve issues in the field whilst promoting active and sustainable travel. Working alongside organisations such as Living Streets and Sustrans, you will promote active and sustainable travel and help to supervise our team of school crossing patrols What we need from you You will hold a vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ 2 or equivalent, or similar level of accreditation). You must have experience of working in a similar service area or delivering training to school pupils and others in the community. We require you to be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice relating to road safety education and school crossing patrol. Things you need to know: Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. This role is partime working 22.2 hours per week and term time only (39 weeks per year), salary pro rata to hours worked. The closing date for applications is 11.55pm, 31st December 2024.
