We, at ERM, are looking for a Principal Consultant to join the Sustainability & Climate Solutions team in the UK. As our new colleague, you will work on challenging and innovative projects with a focus on helping companies work towards achieving net zero and move towards transition in a low carbon economy. Who are you? You are someone who has a strong interest in making a positive impact in addressing the climate crisis. You will have extensive experience in greenhouse gas accounting and a particular expertise in Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and related Net Zero roadmaps. You’ll be keen to work directly with clients to help solve climate challenges, have high standards in delivery, be keen to support a team of junior staff and be able to win new work. Other important qualities include: Experience in greenhouse gas accounting and reporting (e.g. GHG Protocol, SECR, PCAF, EEIO), target setting (e.g. SBTi, NZIF) Relevant experience in climate change/transition (e.g. at a consulting firm or in-house CSR department) Knowledge of reporting frameworks (e.g. CDP and TCFD disclosures), and awareness of developments in the field, such as those around corporate sustainability reporting (EU CSRD, SASB, GRI) Experience of GHG management systems, assurance and digital solutions Experience of the economic analysis of greenhouse gas/energy reductions/MACC analysis/carbon pricing Experience within industry or working with clients across sectors High level of numeracy including forecasting models and understanding of GHG transition pathways What’s the role? You will: Act as the technical lead on GHG accounting and science-based target setting Oversee accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, 3) working with the Partner in Charge Provide expert input on emissions forecasts and setting targets through the application of renewable energy, energy efficiency, new technologies, carbon offsets and removals Deliver Scope 3 value chain emissions assessments and advisory on setting SBTi targets Manage projects, keeping to time and budget and managing project risks Deliver excellent levels of client satisfaction, through the quality of the outputs you oversee and through communications and engagement Supervise more junior staff to deliver excellent quality work Identify future sales through identification of possible change orders and new opportunities Meet personal billability, budgeted rates and personal sales contribution targets What do we offer?
