The role: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, The Chief Risk & Resiliency Officer is responsible for: Executive Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic leadership and direction across the first line of defense with regards to executing the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, with special focus on Non-Financial Risk Management and Operational Resiliency. Engage with the Board of Directors, Risk and Operating Committees, internal Executive Leadership and external regulatory bodies on risk and resiliency matters. Participate in key committees to provide insights and guidance on risk and resiliency matters. Risk Identification and Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments across all business functions within their area to identify potential risks related to operations, compliance, financial performance, reputation, and strategic objectives. Analyze risk likelihood and impact to prioritize critical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Utilize data analytics and key risk indicators (KRIs) to monitor emerging risks and trends. Risk Mitigation and Control Implementation: Develop and implement effective controls to manage identified risks within risk appetite. Partner with the Chief Control Officer and business unit and corporate group control teams to ensure controls are well-documented, communicated, and regularly tested for effectiveness. Work with senior leaders to embed risk management practices into daily operations and decision-making processes. Resiliency Planning and Response: Develop and maintain business continuity plans (BCP) and disaster recovery strategies to minimize disruption from potential disruptions. Conduct scenario-based exercises to assess resilience capabilities and identify areas for improvement. Coordinate incident response activities during crisis situations, ensuring effective communication and decision-making. Stakeholder Management, Reporting and Communication: Collaborate with other departments including compliance, internal audit, and second-line defense to ensure alignment on risk management practices. Regularly report status on risk, resiliency and mitigation progress to senior management and relevant stakeholders. Foster a culture of open communication and risk awareness within the business unit. Escalate critical risks and emerging issues requiring immediate attention to appropriate governance committee and executive leadership. Culture and Awareness: Promote a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management and resiliency planning across the enterprise. Foster an environment where all employees understand their role in managing risk and are comfortable raising issues and concerns. Provide training and guidance to employees on internal principles, policies, and procedures. Contribute to the development and implementation of risk management strategies and initiatives to enhance organizational resilience and sustainability. Qualifications: The successful candidate will benefit from having: 15+ years direct experience/expertise in a risk management, control implementation or related role in an executive capacity. Preferably within a GSIB/GSIFI organization. Ability to set standards and drive excellence within a team. Demonstrable competency in strategic thinking, process improvements and innovation skills. Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, including the ability to lead teams and drive company-wide initiatives related to risk, resiliency, and productivity. Aptitude in decision-making, problem-solving, and applying judgment. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field. An MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
