Overview: Role: Head of Manufacturing Location: Leamington Spa – MTC Job ID: 2024 – 2495 Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 Ricardo’s Performance Products division is seeking a Head of Manufacturing to be responsible for the quality, on-time delivery, and costs of our high precision machine shop and assembly teams, manufacturing components and assembly of niche volume transmissions for the motorsport, automotive, and aerospace industries. The Head of Manufacturing reports to the Operations Director and is part of the site Leadership team. Key Accountabilities: Managing a large team that includes machine and assembly technicians, inspection, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and production control. Direct reports include Production Managers for Machining and Assembly, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Production Control Manager, and Maintenance Manager. Leading a strong technical team, executing a highly utilized and skilled workforce to improve performance in all areas of the business, whilst planning for the future introduction of new equipment and business processes/systems. Occasional travel to customers, suppliers, and other Ricardo sites, but primarily the role is internally focused on improving the performance of the business. Demonstrable track record of leading large, skilled manufacturing teams to improve overall performance. Leading a team in a machine shop environment, working in a low volume/batch environment. Strong people management skills to communicate and motivate team members, taking them with you on a journey of improvement. Experience in planning and organizing, with the ability to implement new processes and tools. Strong understanding of business KPIs and improving performance in all areas. Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools. Champion of specific projects/customers. Working knowledge and experience of quality systems for either automotive or aerospace. A hands-on approach with your team using your technical knowledge and experience to support problem-solving. Champion Health and Safety for the Performance Products MTC business. Preferred Skills and Experience: Communication and motivating teams. Knowledge of machine shop processes. Organizing large teams. Use of tools and systems to plan execution of work. Working with peer groups to deliver overall business objectives. Leading business change, both culture and implementation of new equipment. Desirable: Experience in a low volume, batch machine shop environment. Managing large skilled teams on multiple shifts. Close working with customers. Experience in both automotive and/or aerospace quality systems. Knowledge of turning, prismatic, and grinding machining operations.
