Due to continued growth, Crest Nicholson are currently recruiting a Head of BI and Data Engineering. The Head of BI and Data will be responsible for managing a team of BI developers and analysts who specialize in Microsoft technologies, specifically Power BI and Microsoft Synapse and Fabric. The role involves overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, ensuring data accuracy, and providing actionable insights to support timely business decision-making. Principal Duties or Responsibilities: Develop a clear technology strategy and roadmap for BI in conjunction with the Group IT Director. Lead and manage the BI Reporting team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of group-wide BI solutions using Microsoft technologies such as Power BI, SQL Server, Fabric, and Azure. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all BI reports, dashboards, and integrations. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into technical requirements. Develop and maintain data models, ETL processes, and data lakes/warehouses to support BI reporting. Monitor and optimize the performance of BI solutions and interfaces to ensure efficient data processing and reporting. Stay up to date with the latest Microsoft trends and technologies and recommend improvements to existing processes and tools. Manage the BI reporting project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and delivery of BI projects. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies. Manage the BI Reporting team, including hiring, training, and performance management of team members. Oversee the allocation of resources to ensure the successful delivery of BI projects. Qualifications / Experience Required: Current experience as Head of BI and/or Data Engineering – 2 plus years having progressed to this via a BI/Data route. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Synapse, and Azure. Data Scientist and Data Engineering background. Experience in designing and developing data strategies and BI solutions, including data models, ETL processes, and data warehouses. Strong understanding of data governance and security principles. Excellent project management skills, with experience in managing the BI reporting project lifecycle. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with business stakeholders and IT teams.
