We are currently searching for a Senior Composite Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will spearhead the design and development of primary and secondary composite structures. Key Responsibilities: Design and development of composite structures for demonstrators, prototypes, and aircraft, serving as a subject matter expert in composite materials and manufacturing processes. Provide support for design team members, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge composite technologies into the overall aircraft architecture. Utilise extensive experience in composite design to optimise structures for performance, weight, and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, structural analysis, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of composite components into the overall aircraft design. Implement and refine design methodologies that enhance the manufacturability and scalability of composite components. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and design software to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Document designs, test results, and compliance efforts. Create reports for stakeholders, regulators, and engineering management. Qualifications: Mechanical or Aerospace/aeronautical engineering master's degree. 3 to 5 years in aerospace industry designing primary and/or secondary composite components. Rooted engineering fundamentals in core disciplines such as design, stress and fatigue, and damage tolerance. Proficiency in composite 3D modelling with aerospace graded tools such as Siemens NX, Fibresim, and/or CATIA composite workbench. Proficiency in 2D drawing generation for composite components and assemblies. Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques for composite structures, including tolerance analysis and tolerance stacks. Basic understanding of design relevant processes driven by EASA Part 21 and FAA regulations. What will set you apart: Experience in aerospace start-up contributing towards design and hands-on manufacturing of prototypes. Leadership experience in leading small to medium teams as a lead or head of design. Automation of design processes and activities. Knowledge of agile ways of working and tools.
