Candidate Profile We are seeking a Principal Consultant to take a leading role in work we do on socio-economic impact (particularly in the rail sector); economic development; preparation of business cases; and employment land reviews. Ideally, you will have substantial experience in several of these areas of practice. Your skill-set will include writing; ability to manipulate and analyse large datasets; and excel data modelling to produce well evidenced and argued reports. You will have exceptional professional values; a desire to learn and evolve your practice; and be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-moving environment. Tasks and responsibilities Gathering statistical and qualitative evidence and undertaking data analysis related to socio-economic planning. Assembling and authoring reports related to assessing, quantifying and measuring the socio-economic impact of development activities and infrastructure projects, for example rail. This should include recognised models to generate key economic metrics, such as employment growth. Supporting public sector clients prepare locally specific economic development strategies. Delivering cost /benefit modelling and value for money calculations as part of business cases. The method should be cognisant of the Treasury’s Green Book. Seeking new bid and business opportunities; writing proposals; and supporting company-wide business development initiatives. Line management of small team, including setting performance objectives, conducting appraisals and ensuring training and development opportunities are assessed and realised. Leading on Project Managing key projects and liaison with relevant clients to the standard specified and adhering to the Temple management systems protocols. Contributing to an organisational culture which is positive, forward looking, performance driven and customer focused. Maintaining effective working relationships with Associates, Sub Consultants, Partners, clients, external organisations and agencies. Working to a consistently high standard, contributing to the development of the Company and service areas whilst adhering to our values and mission statement. Ensuring a professional image is portrayed to clients, external consultants and sub-consultants at all times. Carrying out such other tasks commensurate with the general level of responsibility for the post of Principal Consultant. To be considered for the role you will need the following: Professional qualifications (relevant degree/diploma), experience within the environment and planning sectors and membership of Professional Institution(s) as relevant. Work experience in the environment and/or planning sector. Proven Project Management Experience. Advanced IT and word processing skills with a sound understanding of Microsoft Office including Microsoft word and excel, internet and e-mail and Graphic packages. Good experience in working in multi-disciplinary project teams, working to tight deadlines and strictly defined budgets. Technical ability commensurate with experience and a strong work ethic. Experience managing and maintaining external client relationships. Experience of People management, including daily supervision, managing performance and training. Excellent presentation skills.
