With more than 700 consultants, ES&I is the largest energy and sustainability consulting team worldwide. Our PS team focuses on governments like the European Commission and the German government, running high-level and impactful projects that contribute to making our society climate neutral as soon as possible. We base our analyses on science-based reports, technological competences, and innovative approaches. Guidehouse's ES&I segment strives to be at the cutting edge of climate and energy market developments, developing tailor-made solutions. What You Will Do: You will join our EME PS team as a Consultant, helping to implement and manage projects around the transformation of the buildings sector towards climate neutrality and sustainability. Consultants with different backgrounds (e.g. engineers, natural, political and social scientists, economists) will work together across disciplines to develop balanced and cost-effective solutions. You will engage in data gathering and analysis, perform complex calculations & simulations, and gain experience in policy analysis and design, translating findings into meaningful recommendations. This role offers opportunities to learn, be challenged, and develop your skills rapidly, with formal training programs available on our Guidehouse Learning platform. What You Will Need: A University or University of Applied Sciences degree in natural sciences, engineering, or political science, with strong academic results. 0 to 2 years of relevant professional experience (including internships) in energy and/or climate analysis. Passion for climate action, particularly in decarbonizing the building and heating sector. Interest in expanding knowledge in district heat/heat networks. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Excellent communication and networking skills. Flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally for work, including outside Europe. Fluency in German and English (written and spoken). What Would Be Nice To Have: Experience in energy calculation/simulation of buildings (e.g. TRNSYS, EnergyPlus). R programming or advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of heat network analysis or policies. Insights into sector-coupling, heat pumps, EVs, and energy system integration. Experience with life-cycle assessment methods and tools. Understanding of national and international policy cycles.
