Who we are: Muslim Aid is a UK faith-based international development organisation that provides support to communities around the world affected by disasters, conflict, or endemic poverty without regard to their social, religious, or ethnic background. Established in 1985, Muslim Aid has facilitated the engagement of the British Muslim and non-Muslim community in support of its work in a variety of ways. Over the years, its humanitarian work has included responses to major crises around the world including, famine in East Africa, earthquakes and flooding in Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as conflicts in Syria and Yemen. In addition to the 5 country offices worldwide we also work with multiple partner offices focusing on sustainable Development Programmes and providing humanitarian relief during times of crisis. Summary of the role: The Community Fundraising Volunteer Officer is responsible for generating income from our community sources (Mosques, Islamic institutes and organisations) in accordance with agreed targets. This role involves planning and executing events with these organisations to deliver on our campaigns. A key part of this role will be to deploy volunteers in support of our events and to maintain their interest in continuing to volunteer with Muslim Aid. The post holder will be expected to travel nationally, sometimes at short notice. There will also be a need to work evenings and weekends during peak periods due to the nature of the post. About the Role: Maximise income generation from a diverse range of activities to achieve agreed income targets. Develop relationships with individuals, communities, education institutions and mosques to enable fundraising in support of our strategy. Promote donation campaigns at mosques and Islamic institutes to increase awareness and generate funding. Organise and implement regional events and activities that are aligned with the Fundraising workplan and the needs of the organisation. Organise volunteer resources to enable delivery of events and activities. Produce evaluation reports on fundraising activities and incorporate any lessons learnt into the delivery of future activities. About You: To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience of direct accountability for financial or other targets. An understanding and awareness of the value of social media and their fundraising potential. Strong organisational and planning skills Able to inspire people and to develop long-term relationships, with the gravitas to gain the trust and respect of relevant internal and external stakeholders. Able to refine and implement plans to increase activity/campaign effectiveness.
