The Opportunity
Join us as a Waste Compliance Manager, where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling of waste materials. This position is ideal for someone with a chemistry background and a passion for environmental responsibility. You’ll be at the heart of operations, liaising with customers and internal teams to deliver technical excellence and maintain regulatory compliance.
Assess waste enquiries by following established procedures, including pre-acceptance, sampling, and compatibility checks, to ensure proper routing and processing.
Collaborate with sales, customer services, and operational teams to provide seamless service, ensuring all required information for quotes, transport, and acceptance is logged and accessible.
Ensure compliance with permits and waste management licences, while advising on transport, labelling, and consignment note requirements.
Maintain site management systems, prepare data, and contribute to reviews while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Conduct environmental monitoring, liaising with laboratories for sample analysis, and producing waste classification reports as needed.
Who You Are
You’re a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background and a commitment to maintaining environmental and regulatory standards. Your ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams makes you an asset in any situation. Here’s what makes you a great fit:
A degree or HNC in chemistry or equivalent validated analytical experience.
Knowledge of waste legislation, including Hazardous Waste Regulations and the Landfill Directive (training provided).
WAMITAB/COTC qualification
Experience in classifying waste for disposal and transport.
Strong organisational and communication skills, with a problem-solving mindset and a positive, can-do attitude.
A full, clean driving licence and the flexibility to support site visits and sampling tasks.
