What You’ll Be Doing You’ll collaborate with the industry’s best, working in the UK’s largest service engineering firm with a range of specialist groups. Work on a diverse range of projects in sectors including workplace, science & research, healthcare, mission critical, culture, education, sport, and residential. As a Building Physics Senior/Principal Consultant, you will play a crucial role in helping designing energy efficient buildings by delivering complex simulations. You will: Provide technical leadership in your area of expertise. Provide project leadership and supporting the operations of the team. Have Excellent organisational skills and capable of prioritise tasks and deadlines efficiently. Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivated and able to take responsibility. Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Undertake research and development. Have the opportunity for involvement in national design commissions and influential industry bodies; this aspect of the role will allow those keen to have a direct influence on the industry to contributing to their career development and to grow the team’s capabilities. What We Are Looking For You will be expected to perform at a senior or principal level and be competent in most of the following fields: Indoor CFD modelling for thermal comfort and design optimisation of mechanical ventilation systems. Wind Microclimate modelling and external Thermal Comfort studies. Odour and chemical pollution dispersion analysis. Natural ventilation in buildings. Indoor thermal and airflow analysis. Data Centre CFD studies. Dynamic Thermal Modelling (e.g., IES, TAS, etc.). Parametric analysis (e.g., grasshopper and ladybug tools, etc). 3D modelling for simulations (ideally Rhino3D or SpaceClaim). Programming and scripting. Thermal bridging calculations. Skills Familiar with CFD packages such as ANSYS CFX, FLUENT, Star-CCM, Open Foam, Helyx, or other CFD packages including Reality DC Design Advanced software (ex 6Sigma data centre tool). Competent in the use of DTM software packages such as IESve or TAS. Some experience incorporating programming languages such as Visual Basic and/or Python to make work-streams more efficient. Excellent communication skills and able to convey complex building physics concepts in a simple, effective, and elegant way both graphically and orally. About You You will have a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or a Science-related field. You will have experience working within the built environment sector and looking to grow as a leader in the building performance simulation field. Already working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy, you will be looking for a new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of our field. You will bring expertise (with a degree in engineering / science, and experience in the field) and a passion for creating sustainable solutions). You will relish being part of dynamic team within a progressive and well-respected firm. We require good communication skills and an enthusiasm for working within a team environment.
