The Role:
As the Energy Strategy Manager, you will take ownership of Heathrow’s long-term energy strategy, driving the airport’s transition to renewable energy. This is a high-visibility role, where you will be at the forefront of one of the most exciting sustainability projects in aviation.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and drive the implementation of Heathrow’s long-term energy strategy, guiding us to become a net zero airport.
Serve as an expert in energy trends, policy shifts, carbon accounting, and emerging energy technologies, keeping Heathrow ahead of the curve.
Oversee impactful capital projects that are central to our Carbon Programme, including decarbonising heat systems and upgrading electricity networks.
Work with key departments such as Procurement, Engineering, Infrastructure, Finance, and Strategy to deliver the energy strategy and create a sustainable airport ecosystem.
Identify and lead the development of business cases for critical energy investments that will help us achieve our sustainability goals.
Champion the scaling of renewable electricity generation projects at Heathrow, including solar PV and hydrogen solutions.
Engage with external stakeholders, including government bodies, local authorities, and industry groups, advocating for energy solutions that drive sustainability. Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong background in energy management and a deep understanding of the energy market, technology, policy, and carbon accounting.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, with clear goals and measurable outcomes.
Experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing complex projects, and delivering results on time and within budget.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work with senior external stakeholders and represent the organisation effectively.
Strong commercial acumen, including developing business cases and leading commercial negotiations.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify and explain complex energy-related topics.
Relevant graduate or post-graduate qualifications in energy management, sustainability, or a related field.
A genuine passion for sustainability and driving Net Zero goals at Heathrow. Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience within major infrastructure projects or large-scale complex sites, ideally with familiarity with airports or transport hubs.
Experience with renewable energy projects and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), particularly in solar PV or other renewable technologies
