Job Title: Horticulturist (Formal Ornamental)
Location: RHS Garden Wisley
Salary: £26,435 - £27,427 per annum depending on experience
Hours: 37.5/week (including some weekends)
Contract type: Permanent
Overview of the role:
At RHS Garden Wisley we are looking to recruit a keen horticulturist to join the Formal Ornamental Team, which develops and maintains the stunning Mixed Borders, Wisteria Walk, Cottage Garden and Exotic Garden, amongst other delights. You should have a good knowledge of the horticultural practices required for the cultivation of shrubs, herbaceous perennials and bulbs.
As a horticulturist at Wisley, you will be responsible for the care, improvement, cultivation and maintenance of a specific area and you will give guidance to students and volunteers. You should also have the ability to lead or work as part of a team.
The specific role we are recruiting for, involves looking after the plant person's paradise that is Bowles Corner, along with the cultivar laden Thompson and drought-tolerant species on the Dry Beds. This would suit someone with a passion for unusual plants and a flair for designing/developing plant displays.
