Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Division: People & Sustainability
Reports To: As per Beazley's organisation chart
Key Relationships: Responsible Business Steering Group, Social Impact Governance Group, Climate Risk Working Group (CRWG), Investor Relations, Facilities Management, Risk & Compliance, Procurement, Finance, Investments, Internal Communications and Underwriting and Claims teams.
Job Summary: Support the delivery of the sustainability strategy globally as a subject matter expert on environmental impact including climate change, nature, biodiversity, and the Net Zero transition.
Key Responsibilities
- With the Head of Sustainability, develop and implement comprehensive environmental and sustainability initiatives aligned with the company's goals, identifying opportunities to enhance environmental performance and reduce our carbon footprint
- Support underwriting departments and product initiatives as an environmental technical expert with strong climate knowledge, ensuring these topics, including eventually biodiversity and nature, are being actively considered in business plans and product development
- Ensure the transition plan is aligned with the climate risk strategy and work to integrate the transition plan within underwriting practices
- Support the development and refinement of the carbon offset strategy, including onboarding new partners, testing frameworks, and delivering practical and robust solutions
- Work closely with the reporting team to review data outputs helping to ensure accurate and consistent reporting and data insights
- Support the implementation of Beazley's Net Zero roadmap, including target setting, action planning, and progress / benefits tracking
- Develop and deliver regular progress reports on sustainability performance to senior leadership, the Board, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, facilities, risk management) to integrate sustainable practices into operations.
- Prepare and review documentation for internal and external audits on sustainability matters, in line with regulatory and voluntary reporting requirements.
- Engage with external partners to enhance the company's environmental efforts.
- Undertake audits of systems and process which are in place to manage sustainability matters across the business.
- Implement plans to ensure continued improvement in sustainability rating based on information gathered from audits or other sources.
- Participate in industry initiatives on sustainability matters, sharing knowledge and insight across the business.
- Support the Head of Sustainability with sustainability-related returns and submissions and regular and ad hoc reporting requirements including data quality checks, resolving external assurance queries and proofing report content.
- Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental and sustainability sectors. Recommend innovative solutions to improve environmental performance and efficiency.
- Support with the development of training programs to educate employees on sustainability practices and foster a culture of environmental stewardship throughout the organization.

Personal Specification:Education and Qualifications- Experience in the sustainability sector either within an in-house role or in consultancy
- Experience of delivering sustainability initiatives or managing climate risk within the financial sector preferred
Knowledge, Experience and Skills- Understanding of ESG methodologies in underwriting practices will be helpful
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and working groups.
- Knowledge of legal compliance and reporting requirements in the financial and environmental sectors.
- Experience of sustainability programme delivery, including Science Based Targets
- Strong analytical skills, with an ability to manage and interpret data to inform effective decision making
- Proven project management experience
- Attention to detail and accuracy, in written, visual and numeric work
- Personable with an ability to foster good working relationships at all levels
- Ability to obtain buy-in and engagement from employees at all levels
- Experience liaising with, engaging and presenting to senior business leaders
