This recruitment is carried out anonymously.We are looking for a UK Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team in Boston, Lincolnshire.Overview:The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the behavioural culture of Safety, Health & Wellbeing capable of meeting all current and future company and regulatory expectations. Ensuring ethical governance to the protection of the environment, leading by example and championing the Core Values in all activities and interactions and supporting the overall facilities maintenance of the sites.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop, review and implement health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure they are adequate to manage key hazards in the business and reflect new and existing legislation.
- Provide expert direction, advice, training and guidance to employees regarding Environment and H&S issues.
- To coach support and influence the site leadership teams as well as bring company related health and safety matters to the attention of the Board of Directors at regular intervals.
- Develop and sponsor strategic ESG initiatives aimed to achieve the companies long range targets.
- Liaise & support the appropriate site managers over the full range of their duties and responsibilities in respect of Environmental & Health & Safety matters, this with respect to inspections, audits, report recommendations, changes in legislation.
- To support and communicate wider company initiatives in relation to HSE.
- Coordinate activity to ensure systems are in place to retain certification in applicable H&S and Environment Management System Standards.
- Organise and conduct routine monitoring and audits of H&S systems e.g. COSHH register, accidents, near misses at the level appropriate for the intended audience.
- Ensure adequate means of distributing and communicating health, safety and welfare information obtained from the H.S.E., Safety organisations and Trade associations regarding new techniques of accident prevention, new legislation requirements and codes of practice etc.
- The ability to effectively deal with trade unions and enforcement authorities.
- Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees
- Provide support where required on relevant business projects and initiatives to ensure Environment and Health & Safety statutory obligations are met.
- Proactively seek out development opportunities by learning and attending training courses to ensure that the function has the right skills to deliver business needs.
- Advise the Company Directors & Secretary of all incidents reportable under RIDDOR and specific company rules.
- To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
- To bring new techniques for improving health, safety and welfare to the attention of the Board of Directors.
What experience are we looking for? - Experience of implementing and managing an ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certificated Management System
- Relevant industry qualification in Health & Safety and/or 3-5 years' experience working in a health and safety environment.
- Ability to lead the function and influence at all levels
- Sound knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication, reporting and inter-personal skills, to enable the job holder to influence at all levels in the organisation, visitors, contractors and regulatory bodies.
- Flexibility to travel throughout the UK with some nights spent away from home, where required.
- Experienced Change agent.
- Emergency procedures, risk assessment process and safe systems of work.
- NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate
- Development and implementation of an improved culture of Health & Safety.
Desirable:- Trained in IOSH Audit techniques.
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
