The Role
As part of the IT Services team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to all colleagues within Wastecare. This role involves troubleshooting both software and hardware issues, managing IT service requests and ensuring optimum functionality of IT systems and networks. You will make sure our IT systems are secure, reliable and perform well. You’ll use your knowledge and skills to maintain and improve our systems and make recommendations for the future.
As part of a small but broadly skilled team you will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of our IT infrastructure including Windows Server, policies, device management, network configuration, cyber security and telephony. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, have strong customer service skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring Wastecare can make the best use of technology now and in the future.
Responsibilities
Record, respond to and resolve any IT issues raised by Wastecare staff members, working to specified SLA’s
Monitor IT infrastructure for security incidents and vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate action
Monitor data backups
Create and develop relevant process documentation
Check and monitor the function and performance of our IT Infrastructure
Undertake project work
Carry out capacity planning and proactively identify any required changes
Ensure all quality, asset management and configuration management processes are followed.
Assist in developing, maintaining and supporting Wastecare IT infrastructure

VMWare
Dell EMC storage
Fortigate Firewalls
Mobile device management using AirWatch and Soti (Mobile Phones and Tablets)
Microsoft SQL & Reporting Services
Office 365 including Sharepoint 365
Avaya IP Office telephony
Bespoke applications encompassing CRM & ERP, with web, Android tablet and touchscreen PC clients
Skills & Attributes (Essential)
Microsoft Desktop and Server technologies (Operating Systems, Office 365, MS Exchange Online, SharePoint 365, ADDS, GPO’s, etc)
VMware or other virtualisation technologies
LAN/WAN networking, VPN’s and Firewalls
Creating and maintaining procedural documentation
Experience with cloud technologies
Experience with ITIL processes
Experience of working with ISO27001 and/or Cyber Essentials
Experience of working with VoIP technology such as Avaya IP Office
Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamworking skills
Logical approach to problem solving
5+ years experience in a technical support role
Well organised and able to work unsupervised to tight deadlines
Comfortable working outside of normal business hours
Desirable
Degree in a computer-related discipline
Relevant Professional Qualifications such as Microsoft Certifications
