About the Role:
As the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team ‘Carbon & Environmental Accountant’ you will demonstrate a passion for motorsport and have a technology focused mindset to fulfil this role in a high tech, data-driven environment within the Sustainability Team. You will help the Team achieve its ambition to become one of the most sustainable global professional sports teams.
As part of the Sustainability team, the role will support the team in defining, collecting, analysing and reporting on the organisation’s carbon footprint as well as other key environmental datasets. This role will work on carbon and environmental data across both the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team (MGP) and Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) at our Brackley and Brixworth sites.
The successful candidate will streamline our greenhouse gas reporting processes and play a key role in developing innovative procedures and identifying efficiencies in ways of working. The role will collaborate with the wider sustainability team and other stakeholders to analyse the data and identify projects to reduce our environmental impact.
Key Accountabilities (Duties):

Support the quarterly carbon accounting process by collecting and categorising MGP and HPP datasets, conducting quality assurance on the data and confidently challenging the team to improve data.

Collaborate with third party accounting suppliers across sites to improve environmental and carbon data input, processing and analysis.

Support internal data management processes currently in place across both sites, suggesting and implementing process improvements.

Development of accounting processes to improve calculation efficiency and accuracy.

Continuous development of your skills in data collection, sorting, and management.

Build strong internal partnerships with the Finance team to ensure efficient and effective statutory reporting.

Track industry changes and best practices in carbon accounting and flagging these to the business.

Support during annual environmental auditing, assisting with preparation of data packs and evidence folders.

Support the communication and reporting of Greenhouse Gas emissions data and other key environmental datasets.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
-
Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
-
Solid numeracy skills, confidence in working with large data sets and advanced Excel/database management skills.

Attention to detail and ability to spot miscalculations or uncertainties.

Experience of carbon accounting in previous role, including a solid understanding of best practice carbon accounting methodologies.

Experience of data validation, analysis and presentation across a matrix organisation.

Experience carrying out internal auditing of data and compliance and support with external assurance activities.

Knowledge of UK legislative and voluntary reporting requirements across climate and environmental sustainability (TCFD, SECR, EPR etc.).

Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external) and relationship development.

Some understanding of the use of Power BI, SQL and/or Python within a business environment is preferable but not essential
