BAM FM is recruiting a Site Based Maintenance Electrician and you will be based out of Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Working 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday.
Your mission
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across all accommodation and commercial properties within the university estate to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This role requires a hands-on professional who can work independently, diagnose problems, and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine electrical maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in industrial, commercial, or residential settings provide helpdesk team with materials costs and assist in quotation of remedial works.
• Install and maintain electrical systems, wiring, outlets, fixtures, and other components.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or malfunctions.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to assess and execute tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff to address complex issues.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment performance.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and ensure minimal downtime.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in electrical systems and technologies.
Who are we looking for?
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Electrician or similar role.
• Valid Electrician license or certification (as required by local/state regulations).
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
• Proficient in reading technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
• Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or relevant technical training.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance electrical work.
