ESG REC are working with one of the world’s leading specialist engineering firms working to tackle complex and critical projects in the energy sector that will truly change the world we live in. With a growing workload, they seek an experienced Associate/Contractor Energy Consultant to provide ad-hoc or contract-based support across projects and workstreams. The role: We are looking for a consultant to join the Energy team on a contract/ad hoc basis to support the portfolio of energy projects. Key responsibilities: Support senior consultants in delivering projects to clients. Demonstrate strong numeracy, analytical, and communication skills. Adopt a proactive, organized approach with a commitment to high-quality work. Exhibit a strong understanding of the energy sector, including strategic, technical, commercial, and regulatory aspects. Conduct research and analysis to support consultancy activities. Manage time effectively across multiple projects and phases, including: Researching and analysing data. Contributing to techno-economic and financial model development. Assisting in the preparation of client reports and proposals for new contracts. Ensure the quality and timely delivery of assigned work. Collaborate with other consultants and teams to integrate contributions into broader project deliverables. Here are examples of projects you may work on: Assessing network reliability and connection requirements. Advancing smart grid and network innovation initiatives. Conducting feasibility and implementation studies for renewable energy projects. Developing hydrogen strategies. Evaluating energy feasibility and implementation for transport sectors, including road, rail, aviation, and marine. Crafting technical and economic regulatory frameworks for the power sector in developing countries. Skills and experience : Degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, or a related field, with relevant experience in power engineering or consultancy. Familiarity with Python and Homer Pro. Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and modeling. Strong knowledge of power networks and systems. Passion for renewable energy and sustainable innovation. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Creative problem-solving and analytical abilities. Fluent in English. Desirable: · Experience with tools such as Helioscope, PV/Syst, DigSilent, PSS/E, Powerworld, and/or PLEXOS. · Knowledge of hydrogen systems and technologies.
