Position Title: (Sr.) BESS Designer Department: Business Development Reports To: Manager, Applications Engineering Entity: CS e-STORAGE UK Location: Reading, UK Position Summary: The (Sr.) BESS Designer provides technical expertise to support Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions. This position will be responsible for the pre-sales activities of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including conceptual design and proposal preparation. The (Sr.) BESS Designer will work closely with the applications and business development teams to help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs. Key Responsibilities Pre-sales Design Analyze RFP or other customer documentation to determine project scope and technical requirements. Prepare conceptual design packages including single-line diagrams and layouts in AutoCAD for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects based on size models prepared by Applications Engineers. Develop cable schedules and cost estimates based on conceptual layouts. Prepare technical documentation for proposals and coordinate the bid package preparation with other departments. Work closely with sales staff, engineering and procurement to ensure complete and shared project understanding and priorities. Perform site visits as needed. Solid understanding of regulatory standards in the UK and Europe related to energy storage and grid-interactive inverters. Global perspective and awareness, and direct experience working across diverse cultures in a multinational company would be beneficial. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required
