The Opportunity As a Health & Safety Intern, you will be responsible for providing hands-on experience in workplace health and safety practices while supporting the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) manager. The Health & Safety Intern will assist in implementing safety programs, conducting audits, and promoting a culture of safety within the organisation. The Specifics Safety Audits: Assist in conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments. Document findings and support the implementation of corrective actions. Policy and Procedure Development: Help in reviewing and updating safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations. Draft safety communications and training materials. Incident Investigation: Assist in investigating workplace incidents and identifying root causes. Support the preparation of reports and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrence. Training Support: Organize and participate in safety training sessions and workshops. Create and distribute safety awareness materials. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities. Analyse safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 45001). Assist in ensuring company practices comply with UK Health and Safety regulations. Some important characteristics we are looking for Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or have previous work experience in a related field. Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and regulations. Strong organisational and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Attention to detail and a proactive attitude. Experience with safety management software or tools. Familiarity with incident reporting and investigation processes.
