The Role We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Horticulture Workshop Facilitator to lead and inspire vocational training at HMP Millsike. In this role, you’ll guide up to 24 learners through Level 1 NOCN and Level 2 City & Guilds qualifications, helping them develop practical horticulture skills with a focus on sustainability and employability. You will also participate in the selection of prisoners for the workshop, support their individual learning needs, and ensure they receive appropriate training in areas such as machinery, and tools usage. As part of the wider prison team, you will contribute to reports on prisoner behaviour, sentence planning, and security As a Horticulture Workshop Facilitator, you will: Deliver Horticulture Qualifications that cover essential skills in gardening, plant care, and sustainable practices, preparing learners for work in the horticulture industry. Promote Sustainable Practices by integrating recycling, soil health, and conservation into your training, encouraging environmental responsibility. Support Individual Learning Needs through tailored instruction and Individual Support Plans to ensure each learner’s progress. Foster a Safe, Restorative Workshop Environment by applying restorative practices, managing health and safety protocols, and instilling accountability and self-discipline. Requirements Experience in horticulture, ideally a Level 2 qualification in horticulture. A certificate in COSHH or experience in managing hazardous substances. Knowledge of restorative practices and experience applying them within training or custodial environments is preferred. Experience in sustainable horticulture practices. Strong communication and organisational skills.
