Reporting directly to the Co-founder & CTO, this role is a unique opportunity to shape and scale an engineering organisation at a pivotal stage of growth. About the company: Team Structure & Maturity • Current structure aligns engineering leaders with specific functional areas to develop domain expertise. • The culture emphasises “you build it, you run it" • 5 Direct reports with a wider team of 60 • While this isn’t a formal board role, the SVP will occasionally engage with investors in a senior leadership capacity. • You have VP peer network across Data, Product, Marketing & Sales. Product: • Web & Mobile B2C Product Business already serving millions of customers ____ What Matters Most to their Co-founders • Establishing the “Engineering” brand, comparable to a “Meta Engineer,” with a strong external and internal reputation. • Cultivating a transparent, accountable, and no-blame culture. • Ensuring Product teams are held accountable while fostering continuous improvement. • Building an engineering organisation capable of delivering high-quality results reliably and at scale. ____ Key Challenges Balancing Trade-Offs • Trade-offs on scope and delivery date are acceptable, but quality must not be compromised. • Engineering teams must enable Product teams to make better, faster “bets” while ensuring consistent quality improvements. Building a Sustainable Engineering Culture • The team is improving delivery pace and efficiency but sustaining progress while reliably improving quality has been a challenge. ____ Measuring Success Success in this role will be defined by: • Efficiency: Improving delivery per engineering headcount. • Throughput: Increasing stories delivered and reducing cycle times. • Quality: Maintaining uptime, stability, and performance. • Collaboration: Enhancing stakeholder engagement and team morale. • Technical Innovation: Driving improvements in architecture, reducing technical debt, and fostering innovation. • Growth: Successfully scaling the team as the company has plans to double in size ____ Relevant Experience The ideal candidate will bring: • Proven Senior Engineering leadership experience in high-growth B2C product companies. • A track record of building and scaling teams while fostering a strong engineering culture. • Background in eCommerce, Marketplace, or FinTech • Has walked a technical Software Engineering career path, which led to leading smaller teams and has recently been a Manager of Managers operating at C-1 level. • You have successfully worked in at least 1 scale up business – it can feel like a rollercoaster at time and we understand it’s not for everyone.
