Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM UK and Ireland is recruiting an Environmental and Systems Process Lead. The ideal candidate would ideally be centrally based and can work out of any of our central office locations with hybrid flexible working arrangements encouraged and actively supported. Your mission The Environmental Systems and Process Lead supports the Environmental Services Business Partner with the development, monitoring and maintenance of new and existing systems and processes and flexes to meet the needs of the team and the business, including supporting the alignment of ways of working to help unlock efficiencies. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure continual improvement of environmental performance via systems and processes that address key risks, support new opportunities and go beyond compliance with environmental regulations, client requirements and BAM commitments. • Help to shape and develop BAM’s service proposition to ensure the operational business delivers on its environmental sustainability objectives. • Work closely with the Environmental Services BP and other business stakeholders. • Support the development of new and existing reporting processes alongside the Environmental Services BP and COE’s that ensure BAM’s ways of working fulfil regulatory, client and business needs. • Undertakes regular horizon scanning, in support of the Environmental Services BP, of government policy, industry developments and future legislation to ensure BAM are prepared for, and able to effectively anticipate change. • Engage with key stakeholders as required, to ensure BAM’s processes are aligned to internal and external reporting needs, and supports the Environmental Services BP in the maintenance and continual improvement of environmental systems. • Deliver relevant, accurate and timely insights, analysis and information to the Environmental Services BP that support business decision making, planning and improved performance in accordance with environmental sustainability commitments. • Processes feedback from compliance activities, and makes proposals and recommendations to Environmental Services BP regarding improvement opportunities to existing systems and processes. Supports the integration and embedment of new processes developed under the Sustainability Portfolio. • Supports the Environmental Services BP and Segment Environmental Sustainability teams with the review of project-level processes and systems to ensure they meet current requirements (ie Project Management Plans, Construction Environmental Management Plans). • Supports with the development of collaborative framework and joint-venture systems, undertaking gap analysis and making proposals and recommendations to the Environmental Services BP that promote the preferred use of BAM’s processes and systems. • Provide performance related information and analysis to Segment Business Partners in support of annual management review, including incident investigation data, audit and inspection and anticipated future developments. • Periodically represents BAM at industry and supply chain events that support the ongoing development of business systems. Feeds back to the Environmental Services BP any recommendations for improvement. • Supports the coordination of bids and feeds information into work winning teams where appropriate, supplying data and statistics that ensure the business deliver a consistent message. • Feeds back to the Environmental Services BP any recommendations for improvement. • Help build skills and capability of the Environmental Sustainability team on environmental processes, practices and reporting, supporting internal webinars, workshops and events as required. • Support to other environmental sustainability improvement activities as agreed with the Environmental Services BP. Who are we looking for? • Demonstrate a good level of experience gained through environmental management roles within similar organisations (private and/or public sector). • Strong technical knowledge and experience across the breadth of Environmental Sustainability. • Experience of working with, and influencing, senior stakeholders internally and externally (including private and public sector client base). • A good level of understanding of the current and future landscape relating to Environmental Sustainability, including Government strategy and policy, private and public sector client priorities and approaches. • Good communication skills; an articulate presenter to internal and external audiences. • Ability to develop strong, positive relationships and to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. • Experience of supporting a successful bidding / work-winning environment. • Strong influencing and networking capability, speaking opportunities and profile raising with other stakeholders across the sector. • A high degree of energy and self-motivation with ability to identify, develop & implement solutions. • Enthusiasm and ability to inspire and motivate people across a business to get involved and take ownership, while supporting personal development and business objectives. • Demonstrable commercial awareness and impact of decision making with respect to all aspects of sustainability (People, Planet, Profit) • Strong organisational skills, excellent time management and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Good working knowledge of the construction industry. • Understanding and experience of sustainability benchmark tools. • A relevant degree qualification and be a higher-level member of IEMA or similar professional body. • A passion for and a commitment to sustainability issues with a specific focus on construction, delivering excellence and driving continuous improvement. • A proven history of championing a culture of continuous improvement across businesses.
