As a Principal Engineering Geologist, you will manage multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, liaise with clients, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
Oversee geotechnical and geological investigations, analyses, and designs.
Provide expert input on rock mechanics, slope stability, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques.
Review and sign off technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
Project Management:
Lead complex engineering geology projects from inception to completion.
Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Represent the company at client meetings, technical forums, and industry events.
Prepare and deliver compelling project proposals and presentations.
Team Development:
Mentor and train junior geologists and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Promote collaboration within the team and across departments.
Support recruitment efforts and contribute to succession planning.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Champion a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
Professional Certification:
Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., CGeol, CEng).
Experience:
Significant experience in engineering geology or geotechnical consultancy, including leadership roles.
Proven track record in delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., SLIDE, Plaxis, GeoStudio).
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
