Role Overview: As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and management of electrical systems for building services projects. You will be responsible for overseeing complex electrical designs, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring that all designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. You will also work closely with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to the overall success of projects. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the design and development of electrical systems for building services projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security systems, and low voltage systems. Oversee the preparation of electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM tools. Perform detailed calculations, including electrical load analysis, voltage drop, and fault current studies, ensuring compliance with the latest industry standards and regulations (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, British Standards). Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other design teams to deliver fully integrated, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and design staff, ensuring that the team is aligned with project goals and timelines. Manage and coordinate electrical design activities across multiple projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeframes. Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure design implementation meets specifications and quality standards. Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and documentation for client presentations and project proposals. Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, providing expert advice and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. Stay up-to-date with advancements in electrical design technologies, sustainability practices, and industry regulations. Key Skills and Qualifications: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification). A Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartered status (desirable). Extensive experience in electrical design engineering within the building services sector. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools. Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, British Standards). Experience in managing electrical design teams and mentoring junior engineers. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges. Excellent communication, client-facing, and stakeholder management skills. A strong commitment to sustainability and energy-efficient building practices. Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its application in electrical design (desirable).
