ContextSYSTRA are looking to expand our Environmental team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Transpennine Route Upgrade and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.
We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Environmental team, initially working as part of our Network Rail Southern Framework delivery project team, by recruiting an experienced Ecologist.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Missions/Main Duties- Client facing role- developing relationship with the client
- Managing ecological aspects of project
- Provide expert advice and guidance on ecological issues, legislation, and best practice guidelines to clients and project teams.
- Prepare and/or review detailed ecological reports, management plans, and ecological impact assessments, presenting findings and recommendations clearly and accurately.
- Preparation of fee proposals and scope of works, report writing and technical review of peer and sub-contractor reports
- Scheduling, managing and ensuring delivery of ecological survey work packages on time and budget, using in-house and sub-contractor staff.
- Undertaking ecological and protected species surveys
- Mentor and support junior staff members, providing training, guidance, and supervision as required.
Profile/Skills- A Degree/ Masters in Ecology or a related subject;
- Established professional Ecologist, with consultancy experience.
- Experienced in BNG Assessments with good botanical skills FISC 4 or 5 preferred
- Full working knowledge of relevant wildlife/environmental legislation and policy, the planning process, and Appropriate Assessment.
- Protected Species Licences (or be willing to work toward gaining such licences);
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
