This role marks an exciting opportunity to take Syntho from its early-stage success to a more mature, scalable business by accelerating its customer growth, expanding into new markets and establishing a foundational core team to support long-term growth, and supporting Josh in realising his vision. Position Overview Acting as a strategic partner to founder Josh Baker, the MD will work closely with Josh to execute and expand on Syntho’s goals while ensuring efficient, scalable operations. Given Josh’s rising DJ career, this role is essential for translating his vision into actionable strategies that position Syntho for long-term success and for bringing experienced leadership to day-to-day operations. The MD will take the lead on growth initiatives, operational management, and team alignment, not only driving customer and revenue growth but also establishing foundational structures such as growing a permanent team and scalable operations. This will enable Syntho to thrive, supporting sustainable growth while allowing Josh to remain closely connected to its strategic direction. Key Responsibilities Founder partnership & Vision Serve as a strategic partner to the founder, turning their vision into executable strategies and measurable outcomes. Maintain an ongoing, collaborative dialogue with the founder to ensure all initiatives and projects are aligned with Syntho’s mission and growth priorities. Lead the translation of high-level goals into actionable plans, enabling the founder to focus on strategic areas while remaining deeply connected to the company’s progress. Growth & market expansion Evaluate potential growth avenues, such as exploring expansion into other music genres or diversifying content offerings. Assess new product and feature ideas against strategic goals and resource constraints, helping the team focus on initiatives that drive measurable impact. Regularly review progress against 6- and 12-month goals, recommending adjustments based on performance data and market trends. Lead customer acquisition and retention strategies, establishing Syntho’s market positioning within the music/tech industry. Conduct competitor analysis and market research. Operational leadership Act as a bridge between departments (content, marketing, product development, customer support), fostering clear communication and alignment. Oversee daily operations with an eye toward efficiency, scalability, and process improvement to support Syntho’s growth goals. freeing up the founder from day-to-day management details without disconnecting them from key decisions. Empower the Syntho team by supporting their project prioritisation, resource management, and performance tracking, creating a culture of accountability and productivity. Team Development Establish and develop a foundational, permanent core team to support Syntho’s long-term goals, transitioning from a contractor-based setup to a more stable, committed structure. Implement efficient communication channels to ensure all team members stay engaged, informed, and aligned with Syntho’s objectives, strengthening organisational cohesion as Syntho grows. Financial management Collaborate with financial advisors to manage Syntho’s budget, resource allocation, and key financial metrics (e.g., customer acquisition cost, lifetime value). Develop regular reporting for the founder, ensuring transparency and supporting data-driven decisions for Syntho’s growth. Use financial insights to inform strategic priorities, ensuring resources are directed to high-impact initiatives aligned with the company’s goals. Cross-functional co-ordination Act as a bridge between departments (content, marketing, product development, customer support), fostering clear communication and alignment. Manage relationships with external partners, such as development teams, to ensure smooth execution of projects in line with Syntho’s standards and growth ambitions. Lead regular strategy and progress meetings, keeping all team members and the founder informed on key priorities and operational objectives. Desired Experience Proven experience in a senior leadership or MD role within Edtech, ideally B2C Strong track record in driving business growth and scaling operations, with the ability to balance strategic insight and hands-on management. Financially literate, with a solid understanding of key metrics for growth, resource allocation, and budgeting. Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building strong working relationships with both the founder and teams. Demonstrated ability to execute high-level strategy while ensuring operational efficiency and team alignment. Achievement of key growth KPIs, such as customer acquisition, retention, and revenue. Improved operational scalability, with systems that reduce day-to-day founder dependency while keeping them connected to core strategic decisions. High team morale and alignment, with Syntho’s objectives embedded across departments to foster a unified focus on growth. What’s On Offer / Compensation Base Salary : Negotiable based on experience.
