Sharper Consulting Services is working on behalf of our client in Sussex, seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO)/Noise and Acoustics Planning Consultant to review and assess planning applications for potential noise and acoustic impacts.

Rate: £40-£45 per hour

10 hours per week

You will provide expert advice to ensure that developments comply with relevant noise regulations and contribute to creating livable, sustainable environments.

Duties

Provide expert advice on mitigation measures to control and reduce noise pollution.
Ensure compliance with local and national planning policies, environmental standards, and noise regulations.
Liaise with planning officers, developers, and other stakeholders regarding noise impact assessments.
Conduct on-site visits (1-2 days per month) to verify compliance and conduct noise surveys when necessary.
Prepare reports and recommendations for planning officers and committees.
Stay up to date with relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices in noise and acoustics planning.

Requirements:

Proven experience in noise and acoustics assessment, particularly in the context of planning and development.
In-depth knowledge of environmental noise regulations and standards.
Diploma in Acoustics or equivalent qualification.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret noise data and technical reports.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.
Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Acoustics)
BSc/MSc/Diploma in Environmental Health
